Aastha Kumar Iyer
With her 10 years of training in Indian classical music in carnatic and Hindustani styles, Aastha Kumar Iyer is currently in her final year of the BA (Hons) Music programme at LASALLE College of the Arts.
At LASALLE, she specialises in pop music performance, having dedicated her time to honing her pop vocal skills. Her unique style fuses Indian classical and contemporary pop styles using song writing and vocal expressions. After graduation, she intends to pursue a master's degree in music management.
Work
Aastha was the main vocalist in the supporting band for LASALLE's BA (Hons) Acting graduation show Summer of Love in 2023. She was also part of the Shared Campus Summer School programme Underwater Cables: Practices in Telematic Performances in 2023 under the direction of Dr Timothy O’Dwyer, where she worked as a singer and practiced music improvisation and alongside worked with other students from Trondheim, Singapore and Zurich to come up an interdisciplinary performance.
Aside from her performances, in 2020, Aastha was part of a project that involved teaching music to underprivileged kids in Mumbai.
